Abstract in English
The museums action goes beyond its walls, integrating it self and being integrated by its territory. Based on this context, the study relates the Energy Museum of São Paulo with the city space it occupies, a region known today as Cracolândia, in the light of Sociomuseology. It analyzes the application of sociomuseological concepts in the urban reality of São Paulo, where the old, the new, the planned and the marginalized coexist in the same territory. The purpose of the analysis is to understand the actions of the past, the present and those planned for the future in terms of museum management and communication, indicating the opportunities for social interaction and the possible roles to be adopted by a museological institution when adapting to diversities from the existing urban environment in the city of São Paulo.
