O presente projeto expõe um diagnóstico de conservação preventiva do Museu Afro Brasil e a caracterização de três obras identificadas dos irmãos João Timótheo da Costa e Arthur Timótheo da Costa pertencentes ao acervo desta instituição. O Museu Afro Brasil está localizado no Pavilhão Padre Manoel da Nóbrega, no Parque Ibirapuera, em São Paulo, e busca-se melhor estudar sobre a missão da instituição, do edifício, das coleções, dos funcionários e atividades desenvolvidas. Foram analisados as prioridades institucionais e os problemas encontrados no museu, por meio da coleta de informações sobre o meio ambiente (o macro ambiente do museu), o edifício do museu: caracterização, e o ambiente das coleções. Após o estudo do ambiente em que a coleção está inserida, foram realizados estudos, com técnicas não destrutivas, de caracterização de três pinturas de cavaletes dos irmãos Timótheo, dois pintores pré-modernistas negros responsáveis por importantes obras pré-modernistas. E assim, verificar possíveis inter-relacionamentos entre os diagnósticos encontrados que podem afetar as coleções, o edifício e sua organização. Propor estratégias adequadas para a conservação preventiva do museu, a fim de que possa lidar com as dinâmicas de um edifício que se encontra dentro de um parque e os problemas existentes ou que venham a surgir.

The present project exposes a diagnosis of preventive conservation at the Afro Brasil Museum and the characterization of three identified works by the brothers João Timótheo da Costa and Arthur Timótheo da Costa belonging to the collection of this institution. The Afro Brasil Museum is located in the Padre Manoel da Nóbrega Pavilion, in Ibirapuera Park, in São Paulo, and seeks to better study the mission of the institution, the building, collections, employees and activities carried out. Institutional priorities and problems encountered in the museum were forged through the collection of information about the environment, the museum building: characterization, and the environment of the collections. After studying the environment in which the collection is located, studies were carried out, using non-destructive techniques, to characterize three easel paintings by the Timótheo brothers, two black black pre-modernist painters responsible for important pre-modernist works. And so, to check possible inter-fixed between the diagnoses found that can affect the collections, the building and its organization. Propose a coordinate for the preventive conservation of the museum, an end that can deal with the dynamics of a building that is located within a park and the existing problems or those that may arise.
