A presente pesquisa, inserida no campo da Comunicação Museológica, versa sobre a comunicação dos museus normativos, Imperial (Petrópolis, RJ) e do Diamante (Diamantina, MG), realizada através da internet. Apesar do contexto da pandemia de COVID-19 apresentar-se como um marco que impeliu as instituições museais a estarem presentes no ciberespaço como nunca antes, identifica-se que o processo de adoção das mídias digitais para comunicação já ocorria. Assim, questiona-se como essas instituições normativas e que estão sob a tutela do Ibram apresentam-se na internet e se comunicam com os públicos. Para discorrer sobre a questão, objetiva-se elencar e analisar os recursos digitais e as práticas empregados pelos Museus Imperial e do Diamante para a comunicação através da internet, com foco em seus sites e perfis no Instagram, onde há códigos específicos, suas próprias potencialidades e dilemas. Baseou-se em autores que versam sobre as diferentes tecnologias de mídias e as estruturas técnicas e padrões empregados nas redes de computadores, mas também e principalmente, realiza-se análises ancoradas na Museologia. Os estudos de caso, que consistiram em pesquisas empíricas detalhadas, proporcionaram a construção da interrelação entre Teoria e Prática Museológica, concluindo-se que o ciberespaço significa uma oportunidade de manifestação dos museus normativos, que demanda planejamento e reciprocidade com o restante das ações realizadas nos museus. Mesmo que o ciberespaço estimule práticas dialógicas, o uso que se faz das ferramentas nele presentes, é fundamental para que o museu se comunique efetivamente.

This research, within the field of Museological Communication, focuses on the communication of the Imperial Museum (Petrópolis, RJ) and Diamond Museum (Diamantina, MG), carried out through the Internet. Although the context of the COVID- 19 pandemic presents itself as a milestone that pushed museum institutions to be present in cyberspace as never before, it is identified that the process of digital media adoption for communication was already occurring. Therefore, the question is how these normative institutions, which are under the responsibility of Ibram, present themselves on the Internet and communicate with their audiences. To discuss the issue, the objective is to list and analyze the digital resources and practices employed by the Imperial and Diamond Museums for communication through the internet, focusing on their websites and Instagram profiles, where there are specific codes, potentialities and dilemmas. The study was based on authors who deal with the different media technologies and the technical structures and standards employed in computer networks, but mainly the analyses are anchored in Museology. The case studies, which consisted of detailed empirical research, provided the construction of the interrelation between Museological Theory and Practice, concluding that cyberspace means an opportunity for the manifestation of normative museums, which demands planning and reciprocity with the rest of the actions carried out in these institutions. Even though cyberspace stimulates dialogical practices, the use that is made of its tools is fundamental for the museum to communicate effectively.
