O estudo de coleções escolares é extremamente importante para a museologia, pois permite compreender seu papel educativo, assim como as práticas museológicas aplicadas a esses acervos em contexto histórico. Portanto, este trabalho teve como objetivo compreender e narrar a trajetória da coleção de História Natural do colégio Dante Alighieri a partir de registros documentais buscando compreender seu tratamento museológico, incluindo a dimensão espacial e os papéis da coleção sob as diferentes visões de seus curadores ao longo do tempo. A metodologia contemplou análise documental, por meio de relatórios, fotografias e entrevistas. Os resultados possibilitaram constatar que, em sua origem, em 1913, a coleção se encontrava distribuída nas salas de aula, indicando sua finalidade didática. Na década de 1940, abrigados no Laboratório de História Natural, os exemplares passaram a receber tratamento museológico mais sofisticado. A partir de sua transferência para outro local, dentro da escola, específico para abrigo e exposição, em meados da década de 1990, iniciou-se uma maior profissionalização dos trabalhos curatoriais. Aos poucos, a coleção foi assumindo seu papel na comunicação museológica de uma forma mais abrangente, estabelecendo-se como Museu de História Natural em 2011. A preservação do acervo e sua expansão, assumindo novas funções, reflete a importância atribuída a ele pela instituição escolar e pelos diferentes tratamentos museológicos de seus curadores, ao decorrer de quase um século, resultando na sua apropriação como patrimônio pela comunidade escolar e pela cidade de São Paulo.

The study of school collections is extremely important for Museology because it allows us to understand their educational role, as well as museological practices applied to these collections in a historical context. Therefore, this work has as its objective, to understand and narrate the trajectory of the natural history collection of the Dante Alighieri School from documentary records seeking to understand its museological treatment, including the spatial dimension and the parents of the collection on the different views of its curators through time. The methodology contemplated documentary analysis, through reports, photographs, and interviews. The results made it possible to verify that in its origin, in 1913, the collection was distributed in classrooms, indicating its didactic purpose. In the 1940s, sheltered in the Natural History Laboratory, the specimen passed to receive more sophisticated museological treatment. From its transfer to another location, within the school, specifically for shelter and exhibition, in the middle of 1990, a greater professionalization of two curatorial jobs began. Gradually, the collection, was assuming its role in museological communication in a broader way, establishing itself as the Museum of Natural History in 2011. The preservation of the collection and its expansion, assuming new functions, reflect the importance attributed to it by the school institution and the different museological treatments of its curators, over the course of a century, resulting in its appropriation as heritage by the school community and the city of São Paulo.
