Abstract in English
This dissertation addresses the process of including women's football in the museological practices of the Football Museum in São Paulo. Inaugurated in 2008 at the Pacaembu Stadium, the institution initially featured only one woman represented as a football player Marta Vieira da Silva from Alagoas. The absence initially did not resonate with the public opinion, but it was continuously noticed by the visiting audience. Starting in 2015, the project "Visibility for Women's Football" promoted the hacking of the long-term exhibition by including images and references to other female players. In 2019, the temporary exhibition "COUNTERATTACK! Women in Football" emphasized the period of the prohibition of women's football in Brazil, between 1941 and 1979, and the resistance of teams and players who continued to play despite the risk of imprisonment. Based primarily on these two cases, the dissertation examines the trajectory of the Football Museum from a gender perspective, approaching what could be called Feminist Museology. The research provides a summary of contemporary debates on gender in Museology and intersectional feminist perspectives; analyzes the political context of the creation of the Football Museum as a project of the Roberto Marinho Foundation; specifies how the long-term exhibition changed from 2015 onwards; and explores how the reciprocities between museological practices, contemporary debates, and internal teams are affected by, and affect these processes.
