A presente pesquisa tem como finalidade discutir as relações significantes e significativas que se inauguram, no processo de representação, entre a produção artística e o espaço urbano, e em particular investigar as possibilidades da abordagem do uso do meio fotográfico enquanto interpretação crítica da experiência do caminhar pela cidade. Adota-se como objeto de estudo o fotolivro Paranoia (1963), com texto do poeta Roberto Piva (1937-2010) e fotografias do artista Wesley Duke Lee (1931-2010), considerando as questões inerentes a tal objeto estudado, fotolivro, na estruturação das ações de pesquisa. A abordagem teórica estabelece diálogo com o método da montagem descrito por Sergei Eisenstein, utilizado no cinema, no delineamento das questões intrínsecas à produção do fotolivro enquanto objeto artístico de interesse para a construção de uma narrativa intencionalmente construída, tratando assim as questões anatômicas do objeto de pesquisa, fotolivro, na estruturação das ações de pesquisa. Considerando o livro Paranoia uma das poucas obras brasileiras reconhecidas como surrealista pelos próprios integrantes do Movimento, constitui-se como estrutura teórica de análise a revisão crítica das práticas artísticas desse movimento, tais como a deambulação enquanto ação estética, resgatando as condições indiciais da escrita e da fotografia potencializadas no contexto do fotolivro e das suas ligações analógicas. Por fim, uma leitura atenta do objeto leva a análises que procuram a construção da imagem de uma cidade historicamente localizada; ao estarem copresentes, o fotógrafo e o poeta nos apresentam em Paranoia uma intensidade estética que aproxima e transporta o leitor para o retrato da sociedade vivenciada por eles. Pretende-se discutir, então, a ideia da experiência da cidade como conceito articulado com a produção artística que traz em si a possibilidade de informar uma ação crítica na vivência cotidiana de diferentes urbanidades.

This research intents to discuss the signifier and signified relationships that are inaugurated, in the representation process, between artistic production and urban space, and in particular, to investigate the possibilities of the approach of the use of the photographic medium as a critical interpretation of the experience of walking through the city. The photobook Paranoia (1963) was adopted as an object of study with a text by the poet Roberto Piva (1937-2010) and photographs by the artist Wesley Duke Lee (1931-2010), considering the inherent issues to this studied object, photobook, in the structuring of research actions. The theoretical approach establishes a dialogue with the montage method described by Sergei Eisenstein, used in cinema, in the design of intrinsic questions about the production of the photobook as an artistic object of interest for the construction of an intentionally constructed narrative, thus addressing the anatomical issues of research object, photobook. Considering the book Paranoia one of the few Brazilian works recognized as surrealist by the movements own members, the theoretical structure of analysis constitutes the critical review of the artistic practices of this movement, such as deambulation as an aesthetic action, rescuing the index conditions of writing and of photography enhanced in the context of the photobook and its analog connections. Finally, a careful reading of the object leads to analyzes that seek to construct the image of a historically located city; by being co-present, the photographer and the poet present us in Paranoia with an aesthetic intensity that brings and transports the reader to the portrait of society experienced by them. It is intended to discuss, then, the idea of the experience of the city as a concept articulated with artistic production that brings in itself the possibility of informing a critical action in the daily experience of different urbanities.
