Abstract in English
Consecrated as exponent of the CoBrA group, dissident situationist and mentor of New Babylon, the Dutch artist Aton Constant Nieuwenhuys (1920-2005) investigated areas as vast as the spontaneity of the unconscious, the limitless terrain of the plans of color, the autonomy of constructive art and the complete automation of production chains and repetitive daily tasks, driven by the promise of transformation of the existing totality. However, if this trajectory mobilizes issues that affect the whole of humanity, and for that reason there is no lack of reasons to include it in the inventory of great utopias, it is circumscribed by old thematic circuits of historiography, related to a more immediate picture to which Constant he came to answer: the post-war and rising social welfare society. In the present investigation, we cross the borders of these circuits following the artist's tracks towards the borders, where he revisits the child, the mad, the primitive and the gypsy to reinvent the human and supply him a new ambience.
