Abstract in English
This thesis aims to demonstrate the reasons for the persistence of Boko Haram, even in the face of more than a decade of efforts by the Nigerian government to combat it. For this purpose, the research argues that the challenges that contribute to the longevity of the group are presented horizontally throughout Nigerian society (political, economic and social), but also vertically, with causes and effects that are inserted at the local, national or international levels. This multidimensional nature of the conflict makes the history of responses by the Nigerian government - too dependent on the military component - to be ineffective.
