Interdependência

Brazilian and Chinese trade: an interdependence relationship

Abstract in English
The concept of interdependence can be understood as relationships between two or more countries whose decisions affect their society and economy. The relationships among countries are not always symmetric, what precludes interdependence to necessarily be a positive phenomenon and become a source of power. Because the economy of any country is highly influenced by the international exchange of goods, international trade can be viewed as an interdependence relationship. Brazil commercializes with distinct countries and currently China is the most important one. Actually, the importance of China is beyond Brazil. During the last decade the Chinese economy emerged as major player in the international trade. The aim of this work is to study the Brazil-China commercial trade to investigate the relation between power and bilateral trade within the framework of interdependence and asymmetry.
