Physical exercises are constantly pointed out as beneficial practices to health and linked to active and healthy aging, but there are gaps in the literature in this regard for understanding the behavior of elderly people in relation to physical exercises, such as the motivations and dependence on exercise. There are instruments that aim to quantify these factors, such as the BRSQ-3, EDS-R and IMPRAF-18, but without evidence of validity for the elderly population. Therefore, the objective of this work focused on assessing the evidence of the internal structure of the instruments and identifying motivational factors and exercise dependence in the elderly. The study had the participation of a total of 111 elderly people ( X= 66.16; sd = 5.28) and gave rise to 4 articles, one for each instrument and the final article specifically focused on the demands of motivation and dependence. of the exercise. To analyze the internal structures, we used the exploratory and/or Confirmatory Factor Analysis were used. The recruitment of the elderly was done by social networks and the application of the instrument was conducted online. It was possible to find evidence of internal structure validity for the three instruments: BREQ3, EDS-R and IMPRAF-18 for use in the elderly population. The application of the instruments allowed us to map the motivational factors for the practice of physical exercises in our sample, as well as, preliminarily, to identify elderly people who may be in a scenario of exercise dependence. However, there is no application of this set of instruments, in the Gerontology scenario, in addition to the lack of standardization of tests for the proposed classification of the instruments. The application of these instruments seems promising in mapping the motivations, reasons, and risks of physical activity in the elderly population
