A relação entre turismo e movimentos sociais possui algumas décadas de estudos envolvendo diversas disciplinas e campos do saber. Entretanto, na área do turismo o tratamento investigativo deste tema ainda é incipiente. Esta tese averigua estes dois elementos especificamente na cidade de São Paulo. Os coletivos culturais, como normalmente se autodenominam, não são novidades na cidade, tal como os movimentos sociais. Ações coletivas com pautas de moradia, educação, saúde, creche, cultura, lazer, contra a carestia já possuem extensa bibliografia. Ao que cabe aqui detenho-me especificamente sobre coletivos que têm trabalhado em prol da memória, patrimônio cultural e referências culturais de seus territórios. Estes são os fios que nos levam a tentar entender por que e como muitos coletivos culturais têm acionado o turismo, para além de um instrumento de desenvolvimento local, como também por uma miríade de possibilidades. É preciso, impreterivelmente, apontar que no ano de 2020 a cidade (e todo contexto planetário) viveu a incidência da pandemia da COVID-19, a qual provocou uma crise sanitária sem precedentes afetando também profundamente o espaço público e as atividades de turismo. Neste sentido, e diante deste contexto, esta pesquisa tem como principal objetivo analisar as narrativas construídas por movimentos sociais, coletivos e ativistas a respeito da cidade, e como estes grupos têm agenciado o turismo em seus discursos e práticas. Assim, foram observadas suas experiências produzidas antes da Pandemia, bem como o que se têm feito no atual momento, incluindo o que se têm discutido e produzido via redes sociais e retomada do espaço público. Esta pesquisa se estruturou como um trabalho exploratório, descritivo e interpretativo aos moldes etnográficos acompanhando bem próximo as ações dos sujeitos pesquisados. Partindo dessas conjecturas pode se inferir que estes coletivos, por meio da construção dialógica entre suas narrativas e práticas, vêm reposicionando a temática de patrimônio cultural no turismo, cuja ação não se prende a percepções tradicionais e estanques desta temática. Diante de uma diversidade de experiências e práticas provocam-nos a repensar as percepções normativas, institucionais e acadêmicas, principalmente do que se reflete hegemonicamente sobre o tema patrimônio cultural na área de turismo. Assim, a partir destas experiências estes coletivos contribuem para a construção de conhecimento em aspectos teóricos e práticos do turismo e do lazer

The relationship between tourism and social movements has some decades of studies involving different disciplines and fields of knowledge. However, in the area of tourism, the investigative treatment of this topic is still incipient. This thesis examines these two elements specifically in the city of São Paulo. Cultural collectives, as they usually call themselves, are nothing new in the city, as are social movements. Collective actions with housing, education, health, day care, culture, leisure, against famine already have an extensive bibliography. For what it is, I focus specifically on collectives that have worked in favor of memory, cultural heritage and cultural references of their territories. These are the threads that lead us to try to understand why and how many cultural collectives have activated tourism, in addition to being an instrument of local development, but also for a myriad of possibilities. It is imperative to point out that in 2020 the city (and the entire planetary context) experienced the incidence of the COVID-19 pandemic, which caused an unprecedented health crisis, also profoundly affecting public space and tourism activities. In this sense, and in this context, this research has as main objective to analyze the narratives built by social movements, collectives and activists about the city, and how these groups have managed tourism in their discourses and practices. Thus, their experiences produced before the Pandemic were observed, as well as what has been done at the current moment, including what has been discussed and produced via social networks and resumption of public space. This research was structured as an exploratory, descriptive and interpretive work in the ethnographic ways, closely following the actions of the researched subjects. Based on these conjectures, it can be inferred that these collectives, through the dialogic construction between their narratives and practices, have been repositioning the theme of cultural heritage in tourism, whose action is not tied to traditional and watertight perceptions of this theme. Faced with a diversity of experiences and practices, they provoke us to rethink normative, institutional and academic perceptions, especially of what is hegemonically reflected on the topic of cultural heritage in the area of tourism. Thus, from these experiences these groups contribute to the construction of knowledge in theoretical and practical aspects of tourism and leisure
