O presente estudo buscou apreender a influência e o impacto da ideia de masculinidade hegemônica na vivência e identidade de homens gays. A pesquisa, qualitativa, contou como técnicas, com a coleta de relatos escritos de experiência pessoal; entrevista semiestruturada e utilização de imagens. Os participantes deste estudo foram 8 homens gays com idade entre 28 e 41 anos que se deslocaram de cidades do interior de estados brasileiros para a capital de São Paulo. No tocante aos resultados pode ser observado que a construção da identidade gay desses homens se dá a partir de um padrão hegemônico de masculinidade. Nesse processo, há uma constante negociação da visibilidade e invisibilidade de seus corpos, tendo como objetivo a construção de uma imagem de homem hétero. Verificou-se entre os entrevistados, vivências comuns de contextos marcados por ações masculinizantes, implícitas e explícitas, coordenadas por setores diversos da sociedade, dentre os quais, o ambiente escolar e a esfera doméstica. Do mesmo modo, a violência, sempre presente na memória, como forma de orientar e supervisionar as suas experiências de vida; o trânsito do corpo como uma passagem de reconhecimento de si e para a liberdade; o toque sendo descrito como um elemento importante no desenvolvimento do afeto e na descoberta do corpo de si e do outro. Por fim, o afeto entre homens é revelado como um elemento sob o controle da sociedade, sendo autorizado ou não, assim como o desejo, o qual, por um lado, é compreendido como via de prazer, por outro, é visto como algo proibido pela sociedade. É possível concluir do estudo que os homens entrevistados se apropriam de comportamentos que expressam aspectos marcantes da masculinidade hegemônica. No corpo é circunscrito os signos da masculinidade e pelo corpo eles demarcam e revelam sinais relacionados à masculinidade: virilidade, potência sexual, força, rigidez. Corpos musculosos, joviais e com pelos suportam os aspectos simbólicos intrínsecos e necessários para mantê-los passáveis como héteros, garantindo-lhes alguns dos privilégios dados aos homens heterossexuais que ocupam o alto topo da hierarquia no tocante ao modelo de masculinidade. Para tanto, há uma constante produção de uma masculinidade cuja baliza tem como medida a heterossexualidade, considerada por eles como um fato natural. Observa-se entre os participantes que as masculinidades que mais legitimam são, portanto, aquelas heterocentradas

The present study sought to understand the influence and impact of the idea of hegemonic masculinity on the experience and identity of gay men. The research, qualitative, counted as techniques, with the collection of written reports of personal experience; semi-structured interview and use of images. The participants of this study were 8 gay men aged between 28 and 41 years old who moved from cities in the interior of Brazilian states to the capital of São Paulo. Regarding the results, it can be observed that the construction of the gay identity of these men takes place from a hegemonic pattern of masculinity. In this process, there is a constant negotiation of the visibility and invisibility of their bodies, with the objective of building an image of a straight man. It was found among the interviewees, common experiences of contexts marked by masculinizing actions, implicit and explicit, coordinated by different sectors of society, among which, the school environment and the domestic sphere. Likewise, violence, always present in memory, as a way of guiding and supervising their life experiences; the transit of the body as a passage of self-recognition and towards freedom; touch being described as an important element in the development of affection and in the discovery of the body of oneself and the other. Finally, affection between men is revealed as an element under the control of society, whether authorized or not, as well as desire, which, on the one hand, is understood as a way of pleasure, on the other, is seen as something prohibited. by society. It is possible to conclude from the study that the men interviewed adopt behaviors that express striking aspects of hegemonic masculinity. The signs of masculinity are circumscribed in the body and through the body they demarcate and reveal signs related to masculinity: virility, sexual potency, strength, rigidity. Muscular, youthful and hairy bodies support the intrinsic and necessary symbolic aspects to keep them passable as heterosexuals, guaranteeing them some of the privileges given to heterosexual men who occupy the top of the hierarchy regarding the model of masculinity. Therefore, there is a constant production of a masculinity whose goal is heterosexuality, considered by them as a natural fact. It is observed among the participants that the masculinities that most legitimize are, therefore, those that are heterocentric
