A superpopulação de cães e gatos é um problema de saúde pública e desperta preocupação, por esse motivo a castração é essencial para se ter um controle populacional. Atualmente, muitos tutores buscam tratamentos para seus animais que tenham várias características atrativas: financeiramente mais acessíveis, com menos efeitos colaterais, com maior facilidade de administração do medicamento, principalmente para felinos, e um atendimento humanizado entre médico e paciente. Assim sendo, a homeopatia torna-se uma opção viável no tratamento de animais por ser eficaz, segura e de baixo custo. A escolha dos medicamentos deste estudo, Arsenicum album, Staphysagria e Hepar sulphur, foi baseada segundo a Lei da Similitude do médico Hahneman, para um possível tratamento de problemas respiratórios e, principalmente, no tratamento pós-operatório de castração de gatas. Esta pesquisa foi observacional quantitativa em que uma veterinária realizou o tratamento cirúrgico e a própria pesquisadora realizou o tratamento medicamentoso. A amostra do estudo foi de 12 gatas sendo que quatro apresentaram um quadro agudo de problemas respiratórios no pré-operatório e foram tratadas com Arsenicum álbum, 6CH apresentando melhora após o terceiro ou quarto dia de tratamento. Após esse tratamento inicial, as 12 gatas foram castradas e tratadas no pós-operatório com Staphysagria 12CH. Os resultados mostraram que um desses animais (8%) apresentou alterações graves, dois deles (17%) apresentaram alterações leves, e nove (75%) não apresentaram alterações. Para o animal que apresentou alterações graves, por estar em um quadro clínico agudo, a medicação foi alterada para Hepar Sulphur 6CH. No décimo quarto dia, essa gata apresentou melhora clínica. Em relação à dor nos animais foi aplicada a Escala da Universidade do Colorado que avalia o comportamento psicológico e a resposta à palpação. Assim sendo, 11 animais tiveram dores leves e leves/moderada e somente uma gata apresentou dores moderadas. Portanto, os resultados indicaram que os estímulos homeopáticos tiveram influência direta nos tratamentos dos animais. Por ser classificado como um estudo observacional quantitativo, não podemos atribuir significância estatística à afirmação anterior. Propõe-se nesse caso, como próximo passo, um ensaio clínico randomizado para se testar a hipótese de igualdade de eficácia entre o tratamento proposto neste estudo e a conduta usual alopática.

The overpopulation of dogs and cats is a public health issue and arouses concern, therefore, castration is essential for population control. Currently, many guardians seek, for their animals, the treatments that have attractive characteristics, such as: more affordable, fewer side effects, greater ease of administration of the drug, especially for felines, and humanized care between doctor and patient. Therefore, homeopathy becomes a viable option in the treatment of animals as it is effective, safe and inexpensive. The choice of drugs in this study, Arsenicum album, Staphysagria and Hepar sulphur, was based on the Law of Similitude of the physician Hahneman, for a possible treatment of respiratory problems and, mainly, for the postoperative treatment in the castration of female cats. This research was quantitative observational in which a veterinarian performed the surgical treatment and the researcher herself performed the drug treatment. The study sample consisted of 12 female cats, four of which presented acute respiratory problems before the surgery and were treated with Arsenicum album, 6CH showing improvement after the third or fourth day of treatment. After this initial treatment, the 12 cats were neutered and treated postoperatively with Staphysagria 12CH. The results showed that one of these animals (8%) had severe alterations, two of them (17%) had mild alterations, and nine (75%) had no alterations. For the animal that showed severe alterations, as it was in an acute clinical condition, the medication was changed to Hepar Sulfur 6CH. On the fourteenth day, this cat showed clinical improvement. Regarding pain in animals, the University of Colorado Scale was applied, which assesses psychological behavior and response to palpation. Thus, 11 animals had mild and mild/moderate pain and only one female cat had moderate pain. Therefore, the results indicated that homeopathic stimuli had a direct influence on the animals' treatments. As it is classified as a quantitative observational study, we cannot attribute statistical significance to the above statement. In this case, a randomized clinical trial is proposed in this case to test the hypothesis of equality of efficacy between the treatment proposed in this study and the usual allopathic management.
