As populações de felinos domésticos tem distribuição mundial e são encontradas em alta densidade nos diferentes ecossistemas (urbanos, rurais e florestais), tendo sido associadas a diferentes problemas. No caso da saúde publica, estão implicados principalmente na transmissão de zoonoses. Da mesma forma, têm sido relacionados a efeitos negativos no meio ambiente gerando um impacto deletério para as espécies endêmicas de pequenos mamíferos, aves, répteis e anfíbios, como consequência de seus hábitos predatórios. Finalmente, existem implicações de bem-estar animal, devido a que são reconhecidos como vulneráveis ao abuso e a negligencia, já que seu controle pode ser executado com métodos não humanitários. No presente estudo, procura-se estudar a dinâmica populacional de felinos (Felis catus) nas áreas adjacentes da unidade de conservação Parque Estadual Carlos Botelho no estado de São Paulo, Brasil; mediante a determinação de parâmetros populacionais, exigências do hábitat e as interações destes animais com o ecossistema por meio do uso de técnicas de telemetria, além de avaliar as condições sanitárias desta população através da pesquisa e identificação de ectoparasitas, agentes transmitidos por vetores (Anaplasma spp, Ehrlichia spp, Babesia spp e Hepatozoon spp e Rickettsia spp.), virus (FIV - Vírus da Imunodeficiência Felina e FeLV - Vírus da Leucemia Felina) Hemoplasmas e Toxoplasma . Na atualidade, nos países da América do Sul são insuficientes as pesquisas relacionadas com a dinâmica das populações felinas domesticas na área de ecologia e epidemiologia. O desenvolvimento de este trabalho visa auxiliar na compreensão de fatores envolvidos na dinâmica populacional de felinos para contribuir na implementação de ações de saúde considerando a interface humana-animal-meio ambiente.

Populations of domestic felines have worldwide distribution and are found in a high density over different ecosystems (urban, rural and forest). This specie has been associated with different problems. In the case of public health, they are mainly involved in the transmission of zoonoses. Likewise, They also have a deleterious impact in the endemic species of small mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians, as a consequence of the predatory behavior of cats. Finally, there are implications of animal welfare, as they are recognized as vulnerable to abuse and due to neglect of ownwers and public private sector, as their control can be implemented through non - humanitarian methods. This project aims to study the population dynamics of felines (Felis catus) in adjacent areas of the conservation unit Carlos Botelho State Park in the state of Sau Paulo, Brazil; Through the determination of population parameters, habitat requirements and the interactions of these animals with the ecosystem applying telemetry techniques. Besides that, evaluating the sanitary conditions of this population through the research and identification of ectoparasites, agents transmitted by vectors (Anaplasma spp, Ehrlichia spp., Babesia spp and Hepatozoon spp. and Rickettsia spp.), Virus (FIV - Feline Leukemia Virus and FeLV), Hemoplasmas and Toxoplasma .Currently, in South American countries, investigations related to the dynamics of domestic feline populations in the area of ecology and epidemiology are scarce. The main goal of this research s to understand the factors associated with the populational dynamics for the implementation of actions considering the human-animal-environment interface.
