Abstract in English
The reproductive and behavioral characteristics of the cavy (G. spixii) created in captivity has pointed it out as an excellent experimental model. The present study aimed to establish the patterns of morphological development and immunolocation of androgen receptors, and of the enzymes P450 aromatase (P450arom) and 5-alpha- reductase throughout the development of the brain and cerebellum of prey embryos and fetuses. Fetuses, males and females,> 22, 30, 40 and 50 days of gestation were used. The concepts were previously fixed in 4% paraformaldehyde and processed for macroscopic, histological analysis and immunohistochemistry assays. Embryos and fetuses were dissected and brain structures identified macroscopically. The male embryos and fetuses were larger and heavier. At 40 and 50 DG the macroscopic anatomy of the brain was easily identified. The cerebellum was the structure that remained most intact, being able to easily observe the structures, the development and organization of its layers. The caudal and rostral colliculi and intertalamic adhesion were easily identified; so with the hippocampus, hypothalamus, corpus callosum, prefrontal cortex and bridge. Hitological analysis showed that at 30 DG the cell layers were already organized. Immunocalization for the enzymes 5-alpha-reductase and P450arom were positive from the 22 DGs on granular and Purkinje cells. However, there was a lack of specificity in cell types and also according to sex. Immunomarking of androgen receptors at the age of 50 DG (Fig.12) was nonspecific in Purkinje cells and the cerebellar molecular layer. We conclude that morphologically there are indications that the brain morphology of male and female fetuses at 50 days of gestation is different and that the immunostaining of P450 arom and 5-alpha reductase in Purkinje cells of the cerebellar cortex suggests possible active sites for synthesis neurosteroids and areas compromised with the disclosure of brain sexual dimorfismo of the species.
