Abstract in English
In a world where technological influence is becoming more and more present, it is essential to incorporate the knowledge of the area of science and its technological applications to the curricula of science in schools, so that the individual can exercise his citizenship in full. These ideas have favored the proposition of new paths that allow a reformulation in the approach of contents related to the teaching and learning of Sciences and that promote an awareness of the relations between Science, Technology and Society (STS). Together, given the new demands of students and research in the areas of psychology and education, initiatives called "active methodologies" are important tools for approaching science content. The present work had as objective to develop a didactic sequence combining active research methodology to the concepts of STS relations for the teaching of botany in elementary education, attending to the guidelines of the National Curricular Parameters, integrating different areas of knowledge in a transversal approach of contents, in opposition To the usual fragmented teaching. The project was developed in the city of Taubaté, São Paulo, with two seventh year classes of a municipal public school in which 16 different activities were developed, such as problems, research, games, debates, folder and herbarium elaboration. As a result, the proposed teaching strategy provided a significant improvement in the students' intentionality in learning, reflecting an effective and contextualized learning process, being an efficient alternative to the botanical content approach in seventh year of elementary school.
