Os professores de uma instituição são um dos principais agentes na mudança do ensino e para tanto devem estar continuamente buscando o aperfeiçoamento, adquirindo saberes que contemplam não só aspectos dos conteúdos ministrados, mas também àqueles voltados para o exercício da docência. Pesquisas revelam que a falta de treinamento para os docentes do cursos de Ciências Contábeis é uma das maiores deficiências na educação contábil no Brasil. Diversos autores sugerem quais os atributos e saberes necessários para se formar um bom professor. O presente trabalho objetiva levantar o perfil dos professores dos cursos de Ciências Contábeis segundo modelo proposto por Freire (1996). Este perfil foi levantado a partir da percepção dos coordenadores dos cursos de Ciências Contábeis das Universidades Federais que participaram do Exame Nacional de Desempenho dos Estudantes (ENADE) 2006. O estudo analisou o reflexo do perfil destes professores no conceito obtido no ENADE 2006 pelas instituições na qual ensinam. O resultado estatístico encontrado por meio da correlação bivariada permitiu verificar que não há correlação entre o conceito do ENADE 2006 e o perfil dos professores das universidades pesquisadas.

The teachers of an institution are one of the main agents in the change of the teaching process and therefore they should be continually looking for the improvement, acquiring knowledge which that involve not only aspects of their teaching subject, but also the complementary skills for the teaching process. Researches reveal that the lack of training for the Accountings teachers is one of the largest deficiencies in the Brazils Accounting Degree. Several authors suggest which the attributes and knowledge are necessary to develop a good teacher. The present work aims at discovery the teachers' profile of the Accountings courses following the model proposed by Freire (1996). This profile was studied starting from the perception of coordinators' Accounting courses of the Governments Universities which participated in the National Exam of Performance of the Students (ENADE) 2006. As secondary objective, this study tried to analyze the reflex of these teachers' profile in the concept obtained in ENADE 2006 by the institutions in the which they teach. The statistical result found through the covariance correlation allowed to verify that there is no correlation between the concept of ENADE 2006 and the teachers' of the universities profile.
