Com o objetivo de avaliar o efeito da suplementação com a Chlorella pyrenoidosa sobre o perfil lipídico de mulheres dislipidêmicas, 12 voluntárias não institucionalizadas foram aleatoriamente distribuídas em três grupos, utilizando-se o desenho experimental crossover e duplo-cego. Durante 18 semanas foram submetidas aos protocolos: com ingestão de placebo (PLA), suplementado com 5 g de chlorella (CHL5) e suplementado com 10 g de chlorella (CHL10) diariamente por 8 semanas. Um período de 2 semanas de washout foi estabelecido para a troca de suplementação aos grupos por mais 8 semanas. Foram realizadas avaliações antropométricas, bioquímicas e de consumo alimentar a cada 4 semanas. No início do estudo os grupos estavam com IMC > 25. Após a suplementação, os grupos CHL5 e CHL10 tiveram uma diminuição da ingestão calórica na dieta auxiliando na redução de peso corporal e no IMC sem, contudo, mudar a classificação de risco em relação às doenças cardiovasculares. A redução calórica de alimentos, associada com a perda ponderai, colaborou para que os grupos CHL5 e CHL10 reduzissem a concentração de colesterol total sérico e da LDL-c em relação ao grupo PLA, permitindo alcançar concentrações de colesterol inferiores a 200 mg/dL e de LDL-c inferiores a 130 mg/dL. A concentração de HDL-c não foi alterada durante todo experimento. Foi demonstrado que a suplementação com a Chlorella pyrenoidosa colaborou nas alterações significativas no perfil lipídico e no peso corporal dos grupos suplementados.

With the aim of evaluating the effect of the supplementation with chlorella pyrenoidosa on the lipidic profile of dyslipidemic women, 12 non-institutionalized volunteers were distributed in 3 groups at random by making use of the experimental double blind and crossover drawings. During 18 weeks they were submitted to the following procedures: with the ingestion of placebo (PLA) supplemented with 5g of chlorella (CHL5) and supplemented with 10g of chlorella (CHL10) daily, for 8 weeks. After that, there was the washout period of 2 weeks to change the supplementation of the groups for 8 more weeks. Anthropometric, biochemical and food consume were applied every 4 weeks. In the beginning of the study the groups had BMI > 25. After the supplementation, the groups CHL5 and CHL10 had a reduction of the ingestion of calories in their diet, which helped them diminish both the body weight and the IMC, but without changing the risk classification related to heart diseases. The caloric reduction of food, along with the weight loss, helped the groups CHL5 and CHL10 reduce the total cholesterol concentration inferior to 200mg/dL and LDL-c inferior to 130 mg/dL. The HDL-c concentration didn't change during the whole experiment. It was shown that the supplementation with chlorella pyrenoidosa, used in this study, helped with meaningful changes in the lipidic profile and body weight of the supplemented groups.
