Abstract in English
Analysis of stress relaxation in fluoroindate Glasses at temperatures slightly lower than the Tg, glass transition temperature, have been reported. Glass samples with composition 40InF3-20SrF2-l6BaF2-20ZnF2-GdF3-2NaF (mol%) have been prepared under controlled atmosphere and characterized by the following techniques: Differential Scanning Calorimetry, Scanning Electron Microscope, Refractometry, Picnometry and Infra-Red Spectroscopy. The time response measurement of stress relaxation have been determined by the Microellipsometer technique using a data acquisition program developed in this research, with graphic visualization and interaction with the user at the real time of the experiment. A dry box designed and built for the introduction of a cylindrical forge in controlled atmosphere have been used with a microe1ipsometer. During the relaxation process, very small grooves appeared on the glass surface affecting its behaviour after a determined period of time. Measurements in dry atmosphere showed that humidity was an important parameter in the relaxation process
