Esta dissertação investiga a representação de gênero na fotografia contemporânea latino-americana. O objeto de estudo são as séries fotográficas: Sim e não, da fotógrafa brasileira Juliana Stein e as séries Las aventuras de Guile y Belinda y el enigmático significado de sus sueños e El devenir de sus dias, da argentina Alessandra Sanguinetti veiculado no catálogo da 29ª Bienal de São Paulo. Conforme a proposta do PROLAM, foi adotada a metodologia comparativa de análise dos ensaios fotográficos, a partir dos estudos de Prado (2005), Barros (2007), Kossoy (2012) e Mauad (2005). Com base em Judith Butler (2003), Piscitelli (2009), Saffioti (2015), Miskolci (2015) e Pelúcio (2004) abordagens conceituais de gênero são discutidas. Para tratar de questões conceituais e metodológicas no campo da fotografia Boris Kossoy (2002), Roullé (2009), Monteiro (2008) e Mauad (2005) fornecem aporte teórico. Seguindo a abordagem interdisciplinar desta pesquisa, foram realizadas entrevistas com nomes como Agnaldo Farias, curador da 29ª Bienal de São Paulo, Virginia de Medeiros, artista plástica e o fotógrafo Aristides Alves. Tendo em vista a tríade recorrente na cena contemporânea Gênero, fotografia e política pode-se concluir que as séries fotográficas analisadas contribuem para a reflexão em torno da desconstrução da normatividade de gênero.

This research deals with the gender representation in conteporary latin-american photography. The study subjects are the photographic series: 'Sim e Não', by the brazilian photographer Juliana Stein and the series Las aventuras de Guile y Belinda y el enigmático significado de sus sueños and El devenir de sus dias, by the argentinean Alessandra Sanguinetti broadcasted in São Paulo's 29th Bienal catalog. According to PROLAM's proposal, it has been adopted an photoshoots' comparative analysis methodology, starting from the studies of Prado (2005), Barros (2007), Kossoy (2012) and Mauad (2005). With bases in Judith Butler (2003), Piscitelli (2009), Saffioti (2015), Miskolci (2015) and Pelúcio (2004) conceptual gender approaches are discussed. To treat the conceptual and methodologic's questions in photography camp Boris Kossoy (2002), Roullé (2009), Monteiro (2008) and Mauad (2005) provide theoretical framework. Following the interdisciplinary approach of this research, it has been interviewed names such as Agnaldo Farias, São Paulo's 29th Bienal curator, Virginia de Medeiros, plastic artist and the photographer Aristides Alves. Considering the triad reccurrent in contemporary scene 'Gender, photography and politics', it can be conclued that the analised photographic series contributes to the reflection around gender normativity desconstrution.
