Tecnologias de Informação e Comunicação TICs

Abstract in English
This research aims to identify forms of use and contributions of Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs) to the organization, communication and mobilization of indigenous organizations in Brazil and Colombia. Attempts to identify and present these cases from research conducted through interviews with members of the Coordination of Indigenous Organizations of the Brazilian Amazon (COIAB) and the National Indigenous Organization of Colombia (ONIC) in a comparative perspective from the dimensions chosen. First, the concept of democracy and the importance of the role of the citizen in social movements will be considered. This will be followed by the role of ICT in the organization of democratic spaces. For this, it attempts to reflect on the "information society" advocated by Castells (1999). Based on these ideas, the context of the two countries and their indigenous movements will be discussed, specifically the case studies regarding the use of ICTs for organizational purposes and communication. This research is justified because several indigenous movements in Latin America are using ICT for expression and display of cultural resistance in order to protect their communities.
