In this research, we check: a) which discursive interactions occur in a classroom during a set of laboratory research activities with the exploration and assembly of a Mach-Zehnder interferometer; b) what actions and questions asked by the teacher are promoting argumentation by students and enable the development of scientific literacy; c) if the students take ownership of the interpretations of quantum mechanics on the nature and behavior of light. This research was embryo two other development work by the research group to which we are associated. To achieve our goals, we review the literature on the theoretical foundations that underpin the analysis of argumentation in the classroom and on the reasons for a Investigative Teaching Sequence. We transcribe the words and gestures of a class of a teaching sequence aimed to investigate the nature and the behavior of light in a real interferometer and an extrapolation for optimal using the experimental arrangement of Mach-Zehnder and a computer program simulates this experiment. The recordings were made in two of the third year of high school from two public schools classes. To answer the research questions posed, we analyze the lessons that sistematizavam discussions and final written records of students. From the data, it was not possible to verify the occurrence of scientific literacy indicators or the structure of oral speech of students, although written records showing the appropriation of concepts of Modern and Contemporary Physics by students. Also we confront the results obtained in this study with those arising from previous research that supported this work.
