Abstract in English
The present study is based on our readings on Mia Couto and deals specifically with the relations between memory and identities in Um rio chamado tempo, uma casa chamada terra, from the perspective of its contribution to the building of a "Mozambicanship". Amílcar Cabral and Franz Fanon, two key authors on the issue of African revolution (mainly in the countries that attained their independence through a armed liberation struggle, which is the case of Mozambique), were among my most important theoretical references about Africa. On the questions of migration, diasporas and identities I supported my work in post-modern authors, in particular in Stuart Hall and Terry Eagleton. My work focus also on the relations between postcolonialism and postindependence, postmodernism and postmodernity, oral tradition and novel. Finally, I try to elaborate on the place of literature and the role of the narrator in a romance whose action occurs in a field of conflicts as those between urban and rural environment, tradition and modernity, past and present.
