O intuito deste trabalho é compreender como se fundamenta a poesia de Antônio Carlos de Brito, Cacaso, cuja obra se situa basicamente entre 1967 e 82, portanto, em meio ao contexto do regime militar. A análise se divide em quatro seções. Busca-se em primeiro lugar delinear a conduta artística desse poeta. A seção que vem em seguida se atém aos livros A palavra cerzida (1967) e Grupo escolar (1974). O intervalo que os distancia é sintomático das diferenças que os afastam um do outro, embora isto não signifique no entanto que não mantenham entre si alguns pontos de contato. Depois de tratar do início de sua obra e examinar, entre outras coisas, o andamento do fazer poético, passa-se ao estudo de Beijo na boca (1975), Segunda classe (1975) e Na corda bamba (1978). Em tais casos continua-se a analisar a linguagem poética, o modo de criar o poema e, além disso, a aparente gratuidade de seus versos. Finalmente, a reflexão trata dos poemas que, focando o contexto sócio-político dos anos 1970, abordam o tema da repressão e algumas incoerências da modernização conservadora no Brasil.

The aim of this dissertation is to understand the foundations of the poetry of Antônio Carlos de Brito. His work is situated mainly between 1967 and 1982, in the context of the military regime. The analysis is divided in four sections. First, we try to delineate the artistic behavior of the poet. The following section focuses on the books A palavra cerzida (1967) and Grupo escolar (1974). The gap between them is symptomatic of the differences that move one away from the other, although it does not mean that they do not maintain some connections. After analyzing the beginning of his work and examining, among other elements, the making of poetry, we move to the study of Beijo na boca (1975), Segunda classe (1975) and Na corda bamba (1978). We continue on the analysis of the poetic language, his way of creating a poem and, besides those, the apparent gratuity of his verses in these books. Lastly, the debate concentrates on the poems which, focusing on the social and political context of the 70s, approach the theme of repression and some inconsistencies in the conservative modernization of Brazil.
