Title in Portuguese
A poesia de Bagagem, de Adélia Prado
Keywords in Portuguese
Adélia Prado
Poesia - Brasil
Poesia marginal

Poetry - Brazil
Abstract in English
The dissertation that follows aims at studying, through the analysis of specific poems, Adélia Prado's debut book Bagagem, from 1976. The author's poetry was first confronted with that of her contemporaries, the so called poesia marginal, taking into account and trying to articulate a historical point of view that would encompass the rising of both poetics. Adelia Prado's poetry certainly represents certain unease in Brazilian poetry, a poetry that, in the very context of the country's military dictatorship, enphasizes or even defends traditional values such as those of the family and the Catholicism. Her verses echoe the backward discourse of the military, but at the same time escape it. Through a certain critical romanticism, her poems also help rethink the meaning of daily life, granting it new meanings, specially from the point of view of the humble people. This dissertation, therefore, had to cope with the ideological as well as formal oscillations of her poetry.
