As obras Maina Mendes (1969) de Maria Velho da Costa, Ambas as mão sobre o corpo (1970) de Maria Teresa Horta e Os Outros Legítimos Superiores (1970) de Maria Isabel Barreno anelam-se em sororidade no que se refere ao direcionamento de seu olhar denunciatório acerca das tribulações vivenciadas pela sociedade portuguesa durante o regime salazarista. Entrelaçadas por projetos literários afins tais obras estampam em suas personagens, especialmente nas femininas, os efeitos ruinosos de um regime político em que o totalitarismo de um Estado sobrepõe-se ao estado de direito. Reverbera nos três romances, igualmente, o olhar crítico por meio de uma escrita de autoria feminina que delata a sujeição por que passam estratos sociais menos favorecidos da sociedade portuguesa e, notadamente, as mulheres. Assim, em Maina Mendes destacar-se-á a estratégia de sobrevivência adotada pela protagonista para que possa insurgir das artimanhas do discurso patriarcal que ressoa em momentos distintos de toda sua existência. Em Ambas as mãos sobre o corpo será registrado como o corpo feminino é concebido como espécie de instituição estatal regida apenas pelos homens e interditado às mulheres que experimentarão distintos momentos de assombros, descobertas, êxtases e violências em seus próprios corpos. E, por fim, em Os Outros Legítimos Superiores serão assinaladas as ruínas de uma sociedade arraigada em valores antiquados que, a fim de suplantar as deficiências de uma economia estagnada, compreende a colonização africana como única via possível. Por certo que as personagens femininas representarão papel relevante para o desmascaramento do cenário erigido pelo salazarismo. Serão conduzidos diálogos temáticos entre as três obras com Novas Cartas Portuguesas (1972), obra escrita a seis mãos pelas mesmas escritoras. Dessa forma serão distinguidos neste trabalho os contornos sociopolíticos das obras estudadas e seu contributo no plano ideológico para que a Revolução transcendesse as páginas dos romances e florescesse no meio das ruas portuguesas.

The opuses Maina Mendes (1969) by Maria Velho da Costa, Ambas as mãos sobre o corpo (1970) by Maria Teresa Horta and Os Outros Legítimos Superiores (1970) by Maria Isabel Barreno are in sorority regarding the direction of their denunciatory gaze at the tribulations experienced by Portuguese society during the Salazars regime. Intertwined by related literary projects, such works portray in their characters, especially in women, the ruinous effects of a political management in which the totalitarianism of a state overlaps with the rule of law. It also reverberates in the three novels the critical gaze through a writing of female authorship that exposes the subjection by which the less favored social strata of Portuguese society, and especially women, experienced. Thus, in Maina Mendes the survival strategy adopted by the protagonist will stand out so that she can rise against the artifices of the patriarchal discourse that resounds in distinct moments of all Mainas existence. InAmbas as mãos sobre o corpo it will be recorded as the female body is conceived as a kind of state institution governed only by men and interdicted to women who will experience distinct moments of astonishment, discovery, ecstasy and violence in their own bodies. And finally, in Os Outros Legítimos Superiores, the ruins of a society rooted in old-fashioned values, which, in order to overcome the shortcomings of a stagnant economy perceives African colonization as the only possible way. Of course, the female characters will play a relevant role in unmasking the scenario erected by Salazarism. Thematic dialogues will be conducted between the three opuses with New Portuguese Letters (1972), written six hands by the same writers. In this way, the sociopolitical contours of the studied works and their contribution on the ideological level will be distinguished in order that the Revolution could transcend the pages of the novels and could flourish in the middle of the Portuguese streets.
