The objective of this dissertation is the study of the metres used by Horace in his Odes, according to ancient grammarians, comentators and metricians, in order to understand how these scholars analised those metres; secondly, which are, according to them, the classifications and scansions of the metres; and finaly, assuming that in the metres, when recited, there was imposed a rhythm, which rythmic compositions would be possible for those metres, based on the doctrinal precepts of metrics and rhythmics.
