Fundamentado em uma seleção representativa de poemas da obra poética completa de Max Martins, este trabalho pretende descrever e analisar os recursos de poeticidade com os quais o poeta cria o estilo poético de seus versos a partir de escolhas lexicais que operam em estreita conexão com a semântica, a sintaxe a morfologia e a fonética. A tese está dividida em cinco capítulos: o primeiro pretende expor e atualizar os conceitos básicos necessários à análise dos poemas, a saber, o de gênero literário, o de discurso poético, o de estilo e estilística e o de poeticidade; o segundo visa analisar alguns poemas de Max Martins escolhidos com base nos eixos catalisadores que, ao longo da construção da fortuna crítica do poeta, têm sido mais constantemente abordados pela crítica, isto é, o erotismo, o regionalismo, a filosofia e o modernismo. O método de análise utilizado para tanto é o filológico, apoiado na abordagem estilística adequada à exposição do tipo de expressividade responsável pelo caráter estético dos poemas, por aquilo que neles resulta em seu estilo poético. A noção de estilo poético e de poeticidade é aquela construída por diversos linguistas, estilistas, filósofos, poetas e estudiosos do fenômeno literário em sua conexão com a linguagem, que pode ser associada, de variadas maneiras, aos estudos retóricos. As concepções desses diversos estudiosos, selecionadas de acordo com o objetivo da tese, estão postas em situação de diálogo com a finalidade de compor a fundamentação teórica que fornece o necessário suporte à análise. O texto em seu conjunto é, portanto, uma tentativa de atualizar as reflexões sobre a estilística e, também, de construir um fundamento analítico para que se possa fazer a leitura estética da obra de Max Martins.

Based on a representative selection of poems from Max Martins' complete poetic work, this thesis intends to describe and analyze the poeticity resources with which the poet creates the poetic style of his verses, considering the lexical choices that operate closely with semantics, syntax, morphology and phonetics. This thesis is organized in five chapters: the first intends to expose and update the basic concepts necessary to analyze the poems, namely, literary genres, poetic discourse, style and stylistic, and poeticity. The second aims at analyzing some poems of Max Martins whose selection was based on the catalyzing axes, which, over the time when many critical analyses related to the poet's work emerged, have been most constantly approached by the criticism, that is, eroticism, regionalism, philosophy and modernity. The method of analysis used is the philological, based on the stylistic approach appropriate to the exposure of the type of expressiveness responsible for the aesthetic character of the poems, concerning what results in their poetic style. The notion of poetic style and poeticity is the one built by many linguists, stylists, philosophers, poets and scholars of the literary phenomenon in its connection with the language, which can be associated, in many ways, to the rhetorical studies. The conceptions of these many scholars, selected according to the objective of this thesis, are presented in a situation of dialogue in order to compose the theoretical foundation, which provides the necessary support for the analysis. The text, as a whole, is, therefore, an attempt to update the reflections on stylistic, as well as the construction of an analytical basis for the aesthetic reading of the work of Max Martins.
