Esta pesquisa tem por objetivo analisar as reconfigurações das identidades nacionais no Brasil e no Paraguai mobilizadas por dois importantes jornais O Estado de São Paulo (Brasil) e La Tribuna (Paraguai), entre 1963 e 1966. Nesse período foi lançado, de forma unilateral pelo Brasil, projeto de construção de uma usina hidrelétrica na fronteira entre os dois países - depois Itaipu. Polêmicas sobre um litígio fronteiriço na região dos Saltos de Sete Quedas/Saltos do Guairá foram recuperadas e rearticuladas aos projetos nacionais dos dois países. Os jornais foram tomados como fonte e objeto, a partir do acompanhamento da cobertura da contenda. Buscou-se, portanto, compreender de que modo os periódicos mobilizaram e reforçaram identidades, recuperaram imagens do Brasil e do Paraguai e assim defenderam seus próprios projetos políticos.

This research has as goal analysing the reconfiguration of the national identities in Brazil and in Paraguay mobilized by two important newspapers O Estado de São Paulo (Brazil) and La Tribuna (Paraguay), between 1963 and 1966. In this period, in an unilateral form by Brazil, a project of building a hydroelectric plant in the border between the two countries was launched later, Itaipu. Controversies about a frontier litigation in the region of the Sete Quedas Fall/Guairá Falls were recovered and rearticulated to the national projects of both countries. The newspapers were taken as source and object, from the accompaniment to the covering of the strife. It was seeked, therefore, to comprehend in what manner the periodic newspapers mobilized and reinforced identities, recovered images from Brazil and Paraguay and thus defended their own political projects.
