Abstract in English
This thesis aims to map the history of radio drama in Brazil during the 1920s and 1930s and focuses primarily on the relationship between detective fiction and radio drama. Several radio plays are analyzed, including short stories by Arthur Conan Doyle adapted into radio plays and plays originally written to the new media. These analyses are based on concepts taken from literary criticism and from specialists on radio drama. This research also aims to establish different patterns for the history of detective fiction in Brazil after evaluating the novel O mistério, seen as the first detective novel written in the country.
