A perseguição Inquisitorial no Brasil no final do século XVI foi responsável por desvendar uma das personalidades mais representativas da população colonial: Bento Teixeira. Cristão novo, professor e letrado, foi preso pelo Tribunal do Santo Ofício da Inquisição no ano de 1595 por crimes de Judaísmo. Durante seu processo redigiu inúmeros textos através dos quais buscava a vida. Nesses textos trouxe à tona o cotidiano dos cárceres, a corrupção dos funcionários da Inquisição e a compra de "perdões gerais". A vida e os costumes nas principais capitanias do Brasil são vislumbrados e deles emergem uma população cripto judia em luta contra a exclusão e o preconceito

The Inquisition persecution in the end of the 15 century was responsible to show one of the most representative personalities of the colonial population: Bento Teixeira. New Christian, teacher and scholar, he was prisoner by the Hole Inquisition, in 1595 for Judaism crimes. During the process he wrote numerous tests in which he tried to save his life. Trough these tests he showed the prison's daily routine and the corruption of the Inquisitors. The Brazilian colonial life was described and appears a criptojewih community fighting against exclusion and prejudice
