Esta dissertação de mestrado tem como objetivo analisar o encaminhamento dado aos menores pobres livres, ingênuos e libertos através das relações tutelares na segunda metade do século XIX em Campinas. A pesquisa foi feita com as 287 Ações de Tutela do período de 1871 a 1889, da Comarca de Campinas, em busca de identificar alguns perfis socioeconômicos dos menores tutelados e suas famílias, bem como os tutores nomeados nesses processos. Através desses dados, foi possível identificar muitos casos com referência direta à prestação de serviços desses menores tutelados. Diante disso, a análise pretende discutir a instrumentalização das Ações de Tutela no período em prol do encaminhamento de uma infância pobre para o mundo do trabalho.

This master dissertation aims to analyze the destiny assigned to the poor underage free, ingênuos and freedman by means of tutelage relationships during the second half of 19th Century in Campinas. The research scrutinized 287 lawsuits regarding tutelages from 1871 to 1889, in Campinas District Court, with the purpose of identifying some socioeconomic profiles of underage individuals submitted to a tutor and of their families, as well as of the tutors nominated in the lawsuits. The data gathered in the research made it possible to identify many cases in which the underage individuals were clearly submitted to some service provision. Therefore, this study intends to discuss the instrumentalization of the lawsuits regarding tutelages during the aforementioned period as a strategy to introduce the poor children into the world of work.
