Este trabalho tem como proposta analisar as Alfândegas de Lisboa e a Alfândega do Rio de Janeiro na primeira metade do século XVIII, período que coincide com o governo de D. João V. O que se pretende é demonstrar a estrutura e a dinâmica dessa instituição, destacando a hierarquia social dos oficiais e homens de negócio, que participavam do processo de recolhimento do tributo da dízima dos gêneros que entravam no porto, de qualquer parte que fosse, os conflitos decorrentes dessa cobrança envolvendo os contratadores, lavradores e senhores de engenho, no momento em que a capitania fluminense adquiriu maior protagonismo se estabelecendo como uma das principais na economia colonial.

The purpose of this work is to analyze the Customs of Lisbon and the Customs of Rio de Janeiro in the first half of the 18th century, a period that coincides with the government of D. João V. The aim is to demonstrate the structure and dynamics of this institution, highlighting the social hierarchy of the officers and businessmen who participated in the process of collecting the tithing tax of the genera that entered the port, whichever part it was, the conflicts resulting from this collection involving contractors, farmers and planters, at the moment in which the Fluminense captaincy acquires a greater protagonism establishing itself like one of the main commercial routes of the colonial economy.
