A presente tese buscou compreender o Movimento Cultural das Periferias, os diferentes coletivos culturais que o compõem e como esses participam do contínuo processo de formação territorial. A tese que orienta a pesquisa está relacionada ao fato da periferia de São Paulo, origem de importantes movimentos sociais desde a década de 1970, encontrar-se novamente animada com o surgimento de diversos Coletivos Culturais que articulam politicamente a apropriação do território e territorializam a cidade. O trabalho tratou do fato dos artistas e produtores culturais representarem o papel de sujeitos, inclusive bastante atuantes no corpus do campo político do município de São Paulo, criando movimentos, realizando fóruns, alterando leis e produzindo uma nova estética política no território paulistano.

The present thesis has sought to understand the Peripheral Culture Movement, its diverse cultural collectives and their way of participating in the continuous process of territorial formation. The thesis that guides this research is related to the fact that the peripheral zone of Sao Paulo, the starting point of significant social movements during the 1970s, is once again animated by the emergence of various cultural collectives politically connected to territorial ownership and urban territoriality processes . This work has considered the fact that artists and cultural producers play the role of subjects, moreover intensely active on Sao Paulo political field corpus as they create movements, accomplish discussion forums, alter laws and produce a new political aesthetics on the territory of Sao Paulo.
