Title in Portuguese
Território e finanças: técnicas, normas e topologias bancárias no Brasil

Topologia bancária
Uso do território

Abstract in English
This work aims to analyze the evolution of the Brazilian financial and banking system in its relations with the technical and normative contents of the national territory. From the creation of the Currency and Credit Superintendence (SUMOC), in 1945, this system focuses on catalyzing the industrialization and integration efforts in the Brazilian territory. The indebtedness of the State and the installation of a modern telecommunication framework from the 1970s on will alter this pattern of functioning of the financial system making it more effective for the vectors linked with globalization, in detriment of the development of the territory as a whole. The recent evolution of the bank topology allowed us to conclude that the use of the geographic space by the banks makes the promotion of the horizontality difficult in the territory. This situation can be confirmed by observing that this topology reinforced the centralization of the deposits and credits in the Concentrated Region of the country.
