Este trabalho visa a analisar as maneiras concretas e abstratas com que os Jarawara lidam com as relações de afinidade em um Mundo que concebem como perigoso. Tentamos demonstrar que o Mundo Jarawara é perigoso, pois ele reflete uma guerra generalizada em que todos os seres (humanos e não humanos) são, potencialmente, uma ameaça à vida do indivíduo jarawara. O xamã desempenha um papel central na manutenção deste Mundo, tanto para o entendimento dos perigos como para a proteção dos seus e agressão dos Outros. O único lugar tido como seguro é a aldeia, um local geograficamente delimitado. Porém, o agrupamento aldeão está sujeito a manipulações políticas e, por isto, a presença de um chefe centralizador de aliados é essencial. Enquanto vivos, os humanos participam da predação generalizada do Mundo Jarawara por meio da caça, da pesca e do xamanismo, mas tentam amenizar os eventuais problemas pós-mortem plantando seus roçados e criando, assim, laços de consanguinidade com os espíritos do céu. Quando morrem, os Jarawara tornam-se Outros, e é aqui que se iniciam os grandes problemas existenciais dos vivos.

The thesis analyzes how the Jarawara deal with the affinal relations in a world that they consider dangerous. It intends to demonstrate that the Jarawara World is a dangerous World due to the state of general war within it, where all kind of beings (humans or non-humans) are a potential threat to the life of a Jarawara individual. The shaman has a central role in the maintenance of this World, by helping to understand the dangers, protecting his group and aggressing others. The village, which is a geographically limited place, is the only location conceived as safe. Nevertheless, the local group is susceptible to political manipulations, which is the reason why the figure of a chief, an allies centralizer, is crucial. The humans, during their lifetime, participate in the generalized predation of the Jarawara World by hunting, fishing and through the means of shamanism. They try to prepare themselves for the eventual problems after death by planting in their gardens, hence, creating consanguinity bonds with the spirits of the sky. When they die, the Jarawara become Others: that is how the living existential problems start.
