Abstract in English
The purpose of this masters thesis is to investigate the ambivalence of music in Jean-Jacques Rousseau's theory. The philosopher argues, at the same time, about the natural features of the symphony, which give it the energetic accent responsible for moving the feelings of the listener, and about the artificial aspects that are resulting from morality required for music to be significant indeed. This reconciliation between the rational elements (harmony) and pathetic (melody) strengthens the combat against Rameaus theory.
