O presente estudo teve como objetivo analisar as abordagens de gênero em experiências de Educação Jurídica Popular em João Pessoa-PB. Difundidos por todo o país, esses cursos de educação jurídica popular possuem experiências voltadas somente para mulheres (de orientação feminista) ou mistos (sob a perspectiva dos Direitos Humanos). Adotou-se a abordagem dos frames, concepção elaborada para dar conta dos aspectos culturais do ativismo político, por meio da sua delimitação - quadros interpretativos que sintetizam e condensam visões de mundo, orientando diagnósticos e prognósticos. Na análise dos movimentos sociais, auxiliam na análise da influência de valores e crenças no ativismo político. Os procedimentos metodológicos contaram com pesquisa bibliográfica e documental, pesquisa de campo e entrevistas semiestruturadas. A tese percorreu três níveis de discurso: um mais geral, ligado à constituição do Nordeste como terra de cabra macho e da paraibanidade; os valores e missões enunciados pelas agências financiadoras de organizações de Direitos Humanos, que serviram para delimitar os master frames de Gênero e Direitos Humanos, assim como os frames da Fundação Margarida Maria Alves e do Centro da Mulher 8 de Março, ONGs que realizaram, respectivamente, o curso de Juristas Populares (para homens e mulheres) e o curso de Promotoras Populares de Cidadania (só para mulheres); e, por fim, um nível microdiscursivo, no qual a fonte de dados foram entrevistas com pessoas formadas pelo curso de Juristas Populares. A análise revela como Gênero pode ser utilizado de formas bastante diversas. No interior do master frame de Direitos Humanos, pode-se dizer que a preocupação é com a desigualdade social das mulheres pobres. Já no master frame de Gênero, o foco principal continua sendo as mulheres, porém, com a preocupação principal de provocar mudanças nos papéis tradicionais femininos. Nesse último, há lugar para questões como direito ao corpo e livre exercício da sexualidade.

This study aimed to examine the approaches in gender discourse of Popular Legal Education in João Pessoa, Paraiba state. Disseminated throughout the country, these courses are geared only for women (feminist orientation) or to a mixed public (from the perspective of Human Rights). We adopted the approach of frames, concept which was elaborate to realize cultural aspects of political activism, through elaboration of interpretative frameworks that synthesize and condense worldviews guiding diagnostic and prognostic. In the analysis of social movements, it helps to analyze the influence of values and beliefs into political activism. The methodological procedures relied on bibliographic and documentary research, field research and semi-structured interviews. The thesis has undergone three levels of discourse: a more general, in the creation of the Northeast region as a virilised land by courageous men, as well as Paraiba state; the values and mission set forth by the funding agencies of human rights organizations, which served to delimit Gender and Human Rights as the master frames, as well as Margarida Maria Alves Foundation and Center for Women March 8 [Centro da Mulher 8 de Março] frames, NGOs who were, respectively, undertaken Popular Jurists courses (for men and women) and Popular Citizenship Promoters (only for women), and finally, a micro-discursive level, in which the data source was interviews with people trained by the course of Jurists rated. The analysis shows how gender can be used in very different ways. Inside human rights master frame, one can say that the concern is with the social inequality of poor women. In Gender master frame, the main focus remains women, however, with the main concern in bringing about changes in traditional roles for women. In the latter, there is place for such issues as right to free exercise of the body and sexuality.
