Essa dissertação tem como objetivo organizar os dados etno-históricos e arqueológicos da região da Bacia do Rio Grande, norte de São Paulo e Triângulo Mineiro, tendo como foco os grupos indígenas Jê, denominados nos documentos como Kayapó Meridionais (ou do sul). A partir da documentação relacionada a cronistas, naturalistas, viajantes, religiosos e exploradores que percorreram a área entre os séculos XVII e XIX, se evidencia o movimento de resistência empreendido pelos indígenas em relação às frentes de expansão sertanistas da época. Através de um levantamento e da sistematização de dados a respeito dos sítios arqueológicos já identificados na área, se dá início a uma projeção da história desses indivíduos. Dessa maneira a pesquisa fornece dados que auxiliam a inserção do indígena no discurso de formação da história regional, além de colaborar com as futuras pesquisas sobre a Arqueologia do grupos Jê na Bacia do Rio Grande.

This dissertation has the intention to present some reflections on the ethnohistory and archeology of the Rio Grande Basin, north of São Paulo and Triângulo Mineiro, aiming on indigenous groups Southern Ge, named in documents as Southern Kayapó From the documentation associated to writers, naturalists, travelers, religious and explorers who traveled the area between the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries, it is demonstrated the resistance movement waged by the indigenous regarding the sertanistas expansion fronts of the time. Through a survey and systematization of data on archaeological sites that have been identified in the area, it initiates a projection of the history of these individuals. In this way the research will provide data to assist in the integration of the indigenous in the regional history of speech training, and collaborate with future research about the Archaeology of Southern Ge groups.
