A pesquisa, de natureza qualitativa, consiste em colocar em evidência a implementação da Estratégia de Saúde da Família no Sistema de Saúde Suplementar no município de São Paulo na interface entre o modelo pautado na doença e o da promoção da saúde. Objetivos: 1) Identificar o conceito de saúde da família utilizado pelos profissionais da saúde de nível superior de uma empresa de autogestão do Sistema de Saúde Suplementar no município de São Paulo; 2) Apreender as formas de atuação dos profissionais da saúde de nível superior na Estratégia de Saúde da Família (ESF) dessa empresa de autogestão e 3) Identificar as possibilidades e os limites vivenciados pelos profissionais de saúde de nível superior na implementação da ESF nessa empresa de autogestão. Os dados foram coletados após aprovação do Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa da Escola de Enfermagem da USP, autorização da empresa e assinatura do Termo de Consentimento Livre e Esclarecido pelos participantes. Foram realizadas entrevistas com quatorze profissionais da saúde de nível superior que atuam na ESF em uma empresa de autogestão do Sistema de Saúde Suplementar do município de São Paulo. Para analisar os dados, utilizou-se a análise de conteúdo. Os resultados mostram que dos entrevistados três são gestores, três enfermeiros, dois psicólogos, dois nutricionistas, dois assistentes sociais e dois médicos de família. O conceito de saúde da família parece transitar entre o modelo hegemônico, curativo, de atuação fragmentada e o modelo idealizado de atenção integral à saúde, que encontra suas bases nas ações de promoção da saúde, porém vinculadas sempre à prevenção de doenças, ao trabalho multidisciplinar, à lógica da diminuição dos custos do sistema, ao atendimento e abordagem familiar. No entanto, identificaram-se desafios que apontam para a mudança do paradigma. Há avanços na atuação da equipe na estratégia, porém são identificados limites relativos ao micro e ao macro contexto: ao trabalho em equipe, à gestão e a política da empresa, ao modelo de saúde do sistema de saúde suplementar, à estrutura de pessoal, à estrutura física e material e grande ênfase foi dada à informação e marketing na/da empresa. Apesar do movimento de busca por novas formas de prestar atendimento aos seus usuários, o sistema de saúde suplementar abarca em si contradições que dificultam a implementação de propostas baseadas na Promoção à Saúde. Para lograr êxito nesta proposta, são necessários investimentos de ordem político-governamental, organizacional, financeira e, fundamentalmente, na formação e educação permanente dos profissionais

The research, of qualitative nature, deals with the implementation of Family Health Strategy within the Supplemental Health at São Paulo city. A process bridging the interface between the health focused model, on one hand, and the other, which emphasizes the promotion of health. Objectives: 1) Identify the use of the concept of health of the family (family health) by upper level graduated health professionals of self-management company of Supplemental Health São Paulo city. 2) Understand the patterns of actions performed by these upper level graduated health professionals in the Health Family Strategy (FHS) of this self-management company and 3) Identify these upper level graduated health professionals´ experience concerning the possibilities and the limitations in the implementation process of the ESF within this auto-management company. The data were collected and analysed after the approval of the Committee of Ethics in Research of the School of Nursing of USP, the authorization of the company and the signature of the Term of Assent Free and Clarified by the participants. Fourteen upper level graduated health professionals dealing with FHS in a Supplemental Health System auto-management company in the city of São Paulo were interviewed. To analyze the data the methodology of content analysis was applied. The results show that of the interviewed three they are managers, three social nurses, two psychologists, two nutritionists, two social assistants and two doctors of family. The concept of health of the family seems to shift between the fragmentary conceived curative hegemonic model and that, idealized, instead, upon an integrated model of health approach, that finds its bases in the actions of promotion of the health, however always aimed to the prevention of illnesses, multidisciplinary work, to the logic of system ´s reduction costs, to the attendance and familiar approach. However, challenges inspiring paradigmatic changing had been identified. There are positive moving in the sense of team engagement to the strategy, however, limitations are identified referring to relative micro and the macro contexts: of working as a team, to the management and the politics of the company, to the model of health as considered by Supplemental Health System, to the structure of staff, the physical and material structure and emphasis accorded information and marketing within and from the company. Despite the search for new forms in providing attendance to its users, Supplemental Health System´s contradictions make it difficult for the implementation of proposals based upon promotion to the health. In order to successfully carry on this proposal investments are necessary in government-policy, organizational, financial and, fundamentally in permanent education of professionals
