Abstract in English
American trypanosomiasis or Chagas' disease (DC) is one of the biggest public health problems in Latin America. The Northeastern region of Brazil is the most worrisome in relation to the disease due to the great concentration of vectors, which are triatomines, due to the precarious living conditions of people in need in rural areas. The main form of transmission of this disease is the vector, which corresponds to 80% of the cases. The preparation of this guide, which includes photographs, dichotomous keys and descriptions of the triatomine ecotypes, is intended to contribute to the entomological surveillance of these vectors and, consequently, to collaborate with the surveillance of Chagas' disease that occurs in the five biogeographical regions of that State. Triatominae obtained from Triatominae Insetaria of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UNESP) located in the Campus of Araraquara in April 2017 were used. The specimens were prepared for collection and for registration in the Laboratory of Entomology of the Faculty of Public Health (USP). The updated knowledge of the geographical distribution of Chagas' disease vectors is important to support integrated actions among health services, which contributes to the entomological surveillance and control of triatomines.
