Considerando que, segundo o diagnóstico, a situação de saúde do município de Ubatuba não é satisfatória e que a área em estudo está em desenvolvimento, definiu-se como prioridade a implantação de programas básicos preconizados pela Organização Mundial de Saúde para regiões similares. Por estarem ligados a quase todos os aspectos da saúde pública o programa da Atenção Materna foi o primeiro a ser elaborado.

Having studied the health situation of the municipality of Ubatuba, it is generally throught unsatisfactory, also because the area itself is in the process of development we consider that the priority is the implantation of the basic health programmes recognised by World Health Organization for similar regions. Because mother and child care touches on all aspects of the health of the community our first programme to be elaborated is Attention on Mothercare.
