Descreve os elementos conceituais básicos da pós consulta médica, caracterizando-a como atividade educativa e complementar. Apresenta dados operacionais obtidos através de um estudo no Centro de Saúde Experimental da Barra Funda, São Paulo, sobre sua duração e os fatores que podem nela interferir, sua composição e seu custo médio unitário. Analisa os aspectos referentes ao instrumento da pós-consulta mostrando a necessidade e as vantagens da utilização de pessoal auxiliar de Saúde Pública para sua execução. Apresenta ainda algumas sugestões quanto aos recursos materiais que lhe são necessários e seu adequacionamento ao rendimento instrumental da consulta médica.

This thesis describes the basic conceptual elements of Medical After-Care characterizing it as an educational and complementary activity. It presents operational data obtained through a study in the Experimental Health Center of Barra Funda, São Paulo, on the duration of Medical After-Care and the factors that can interfere with it, its composition, and its average unit cost. It analyses those aspects which refer to the means of After-Care showing the necessity and the advantages of utilizing auxiliary personnel from the Public Health Service for its execution. It also presents some suggestions regarding the materials resources which are basic to this service and their contribution to the improvement of the Medical After-Care stage.
