Keywords in Portuguese
análise postural
eletromiografia
ergonomia
instrumentação rotatória

Analysis over time endodontist's professional attitude during the chemomechanical preparation of root canals

Abstract in English
The work and the conditions under which this is accomplished are critical factors in the health of the individual. The repetitive strain injury (RSI) and work-related musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) in health care professionals, mostly dentists, have demonstrated significant and growing. The objective of this study was to evaluate the musculoskeletal postural adjustments professional endodontist over time for treatment of root canal system using rotary instrumentation techniques and manual. The study included eighteen handed endodontists who underwent chemomechanical preparation in dental elements 16 and 17, with electromyography, kinematics and photogrammetry as a means of data collection. When we consider the results obtained in this work, we can conclude that during the instrumentation process the deltoid anterior, middle deltoid, biceps, triceps, brachioradialis, abductor of thumb, trapezium - medium and very long fibers produced adaptations due to the need to perform specific and specialized movements. In kinematics it was evident that the rotary technique showed a higher requirement for the realization of the visual field instrumentation with the result the appearance of marked postural changes over time. The results of photogrammetry showed the great demand of upper quadrant postural professional endodontist, which led to poor posture caused by repetition of the same movement pattern. It was concluded that the professional endodontist has compromised his posture over time work regardless of the technique (rotational and / or manual) that you use may develop occupational diseases.
