Abstract in English
The aim of this study was to evaluate the biomechanical behavior of UCLA and mini conical abutments for Tri-channel implants regarding torque loss and marginal misfit. Twenty three-unit metalloceramic fixed prostheses supported by two implants were made and divided into two groups. Group 1, UCLA and Group 2, Mini conical (n=10). Torque loss was evaluated before and after cyclic loading while marginal misfit was evaluated at different stages of prosthesis construction (before casting, after casting, after ceramic pressing) and before and after cyclic loading (300.000 cycles, 30 N). Statistical comparison of torque loss was performed by mixed linear model with significance level p≤0,05. Both the groups presented torque loss after cyclic loading (p<0.05), but they were statistically similar (p=0.795). For marginal misfit evaluation comparing the groups before and after cyclic loading, mixed linear model was also used. In the group 1, before cyclic loading, marginal misfit mean in the premolar implant was 20.4 ± 6.91 μm and in the molar was 20.4 ± 3.44 μm; for group 2, the mean value of premolar was 9.29 ± 1.2 μm and molar was 8.98 ± 1.42 μm. After cyclic loading, in the group 1, misfit mean of premolar was 13.99 ± 8.74 μm and molar was 10.64 ± 0.70 μm. For group 2, after cyclic loading, misfit values of 12.47 ± 1.97 μm was found for premolar and 12.61 ± 1.99 μm for molar. Before cyclic loading, groups were statistically different in misfit (p<0.05), but this difference was not observed after cyclic loading (p=0.894). Group 1 presented significant difference in the misfit before x after cyclic loading (p<0.05) while in the group 2 any difference was noted (p=0.210); a general linear model was used for statistical analysis of marginal misfit at different stages of prosthesis construction with a significance level of p≤0.05. For group 1, significant differences was noted between before x after casting (p=0.007) and before casting x after ceramic pressing (p=0.002). In the group 2, at the prosthesis-mini conical abutment interface, significant difference was found between before x after casting (p=0.001), before casting x after ceramic pressing (p=0.003) and after casting x after ceramic pressing (p=0.022). Four prostheses presented ceramic chipping during the cyclic loading, two of each group, and were excluded from statistical analysis. It was concluded that both the groups presented torque loss after cyclic loading without significant difference between them. In addition, no significant difference was noted in marginal misfit after cyclic loading; however, UCLA group improved this fit in the implant-UCLA interface while any difference was noted in the mini conical group after cyclic loading. Significant differences were noted in misfit among different stages of prosthesis construction in both the groups
