Abstract in English
The complex dielectric properties of collagen (bovine tendon) have been investigated using an isothermal current decay technique as well as a conventional capacitance bridge. A non-linear dielectric behavior with applied voltage was observed in hydrated samples. The effect of water on the dielectric constant was observed at low frequencies (102- 104Hz). The dielectric constant and the dielectric loss of dry collagen is practically independent of the frequency in this range, while both the dielectric constant and the loss tend to increase abruptly with frequency for hydrated collagen. The isothermal current decay curves were observed for 10w applied voltage (less than vc). By analyzing the resu1ts in the frequency domain, values of the dielectric constant and 10ss were obtained. The dielectric properties for frequencies from 10-4 a 104 are presented for collagen samples hydrated from 0% to 32%
