Abstract in English
In this work we study the behavior of the exciton binding energy in a quantum wire. The model assumes finite barrier height and a rectangular cross section. A variation method is used with a Gaussian trial wave function. The material parameters used in the calculations are those of the GaAs/Ga1-xAlxAs. The heavy and light hole mass anisotropies arising from confinement in the wire direction is included, while other effects in the band structure are neglected. The present results are compared with other authors calculations. The effect of the fonon interaction on the exciton binding energy in the quantum wire is analyzed. For this purpose a variation method conjugated with unitary transformations as proposed by Lee-Low-Pines was employed
