Abstract in English
In order to study medical vocation, 30 male and 30 female students were selected of a group of 175 freshmen from the School of Medicine of the University of São Paulo in 2000. Those students were asked to complete a socio-economical questionnaire, following an interview to evaluate their career option. It was appplied a standard personality test (16 PF, 5th edition), which results were analysed by a non-parametric statistical tests (Mann-Whitney and chi-square test). Finally, to get the unconcious motivation of those students, they were submitted to the Thematic Aperception Test (TAT). We could conclude that both groups were similar regarding the personality profile, as well as for the psycodymanics aspects and for points related with professional choice. Gender is not supposed to influence those elements related medical vocation
