Abstract in English
To perform a comparative analysis of the effect of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and centrifuged bone marrow aspirate (CBM) on the induction of bone healing in rabbits. Twenty adult, male, New Zealand rabbits were randomly separated into two equal groups, and surgery was performed to create a bone fracture (cortical orifice of 3.3mm in diameter) in the proximal metaphysis of the right tibia. In the first group, PRP was implanted, associated with -tricalcium phosphate (PRP group) and in the second, CBM associated with -tricalcium phosphate (CBM group). After a period of four weeks, the animals were submitted to euthanasia and the tibias evaluated through digital radiography, computed tomography and histomorphometry. At the end, the results of seven samples from each group were evaluated. The radiographic evaluation confirmed the absence of fractures in the postoperative limb, and the occurrence, or not, of bone healing. The tomographic evaluation showed better healing, and the formation of greater cortical bone thickness in the PRP group. The histomorphometry determined greater ossification in the PRP group, compared with the CBM group. After four weeks, the plateletrich plasma provided better bone healing than the centrifuged bone marrow aspirate
