O curso de formação de Promotoras Legais Populares é um projeto de educação que busca democratizar o direito, ampliando seu conhecimento e quais os meios existentes para efetivá-los. Voltado apenas às mulheres, busca também conscientizá-las das discriminações e desigualdades produzidas na sociedade. Põe em evidência que educar em direitos é um caminho imprescindível para a consolidação da democracia. O presente trabalho é um estudo do 11o curso de formação de Promotoras Legais Populares da cidade de São Paulo, e buscou compreender como é possível tornar acessível e compreensível a linguagem especialista e técnica do direito. O direito, no curso de formação de Promotoras Legais é um meio, um instrumento para o empoderamento das mulheres no sentido de que elas passem a conhecer os seus direitos, mas também, principalmente, percebam o seu lugar na sociedade, passando a nomear violências e violações antes inominadas. Trata-se de apropriar-se da linguagem do direito, isto é, do conhecimento sobre os direitos, do funcionamento dos órgãos da Justiça e perceber a possibilidade de reparar as violações, quer transformando-as em litígios judiciais quer resolvendo-as de modo informal, dialogando com as normas.

The training course for Lay Women Prosecutors is an education project that aims at making the Law more democratic, by teaching women about their rights, increasing their knowledge and what are the legal tools to ensure these rights. Directed only at women, this course tries to raise their awareness about social discrimination and inequality. A legal education is essential to strengthening democracy. This dissertation is a study of the 11º Training Course for Lay Women Prosecutors, in the city of Sao Paulo and it tries to understand how it is possible to make the specialized and technical language of Law accessible and comprehensible. The law, in this course, is a tool for women empowerment because they begin to understand their rights, their role in the society as women and citizens, pointing out Human Rights violations until then not denounced. It is about learning their rights, the Justice operates and ways to remedy violations, formally and informally.
